I fell off the tightrope

That rope that is my lifeline

Whenever there is crisis

Within myself

Or in the world.

I fell, hard.

Deep into the hole I went

Unable to grasp the rope

Or the love

Or the light

That sustains true life.

Disappointment and anger

Turned into

Curiosity and resolve

To be authentic

And transparent

When others cannot be.

I shine a light from my heart

On hypocrisy

On dissonance

On the walls of my cell.

And I see it!

The rope!

It was there all the time

In the darkness

Waiting for me.
